Three Queen City FC Representatives Honored at Vermont Soccer Association’s Annual General Meeting

South Burlington, Vt. - At the Vermont Soccer Association’s Annual General Meeting this weekend at the Doubletree Hotel in South Burlington, Queen City FC’s President and Director of Coaching Shane Bufano, parent volunteer Peter Young, and Queen City FC member Ridge Langan were recognized during the 25th Anniversary Annual Award Dinner for their contributions to the Vermont soccer landscape.

Bufano was awarded the 2016 Vermont Soccer Association (VSA) Administrator of the Year, demonstrating his continued leadership in growing Queen City FC into one of the most successful club programs in the state. Since the club’s founding in 2011, Bufano has grown Queen City FC from a single team to 20-plus teams, and over 300 players in less than six years, making it one of the three largest club soccer teams in Vermont. The award is the second VSA honor Bufano has received. In 2013, he was awarded the VSA Girls Competitive Coach of the Year.

Young, a parent volunteer with last year’s U-12 Boys A team, was named VSA Volunteer of the Year. It’s the first time in the club’s existence that one of its many standout volunteers has earned the honor. Recognized for his exceptional leadership, while going above and beyond to assist the U-12 players and families with many important organizational aspects of the team, Young was lauded for lending a helping hand, and ensuring everything runs smoothly, while being a standout supporter and parent within the Queen City FC organization.

The TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year award was bestowed on Queen City FC member Langan, a student at Rice Memorial High School and four-year member of the club. Given to the person who demonstrates a positive attitude, dependability, along with mentorship and service to the local soccer community, Langan was recognized for working with players with special needs through the TOPSoccer program, while displaying an exceptional attitude.  Langan will graduate at the end of the school year, with honors from Rice Memorial High School in South Burlington.
