Ron McEachen

Ron McEachen - Director of Fall Programming and Technical Director

Queen City FC is excited to announce the hiring of Ron McEachen as it’s new Fall Program Director and Technical Director.  Ron is arguably the most decorated soccer coach living in the state of Vermont with vast experiences as a professional player and coach, as well as a 33-year college coach at both the D1 and D3 levels and as a staff member in the MLS with the New England Revolution.

Prior to joining the Queen City FC staff, he has compiled a 300-193-71 record while serving as Head Coach at the University of Vermont (D1), Skidmore College (D3) and Middlebury College (D3).  For several years directly after his stint at UVM, Coach McEachen also coached in the professional ranks as a coach with the New England Revolution of the MLS.  He has also served on the National Staff for the NSCAA and USSA.  In his playing career, McEachen played at West Virginia University where he was an All-American.  After graduating he played on professional teams from 1971-78. During that time he played with the New York Cosmos and Miami Toros of the NASL, as well as the Connecticut Wildcats, Pittsburgh Miners, and Rhode Island Oceaneers of the ASL.

Coach McEachen will begin with Queen City FC immediately and work with his first group of U8-U12’s in the fall of 2019.  Ron’s core philosophy on the game will be a welcome addition with his focus on player centered coaching.  “Players want information but the key is how it is acquired. Most youth sport educators say that creating an environment conducive to enjoyment and learning is most healthy.  The best coaches create this situation by guiding the players during training. They DON’T talk constantly and dictate every move, decision, and action of the player. The successful coach allows the players to play freely and to make decisions on their own,” remarked McEachen about how he will lead at Queen City FC.

The addition of McEachen will add to an already talent staff of young coaches from the college and high school ranks.  “I am so honored to have someone as highly regarded as Ron join our staff.  I have now doubt that he is the perfect fit for our club as he will revamp the player education in our fall and winter programs, while staying true to our club philosophy of player centered instruction as well as community building,” remarked Queen City FC Director of Coaching Shane Bufano.
